Why It Was Red
The Moon turned red when Earth passed between the Sun and the Moon. Earth’s atmosphere filtered sunlight, scattering blue light and letting red tones pass through.
Record-Breaking Eclipse
The total eclipse lasted 82 minutes one of the longest of the decade. Nearly 5.8 billion people, or 85% of the global population, were in a position to watch.
